An autodidact with a love of beer

Alumnus Alexander de Ahsbahs is one of the managing directors of the Finne brewery

History, music and beer: Alexander de Ahsbahs only needs three words to describe what was and is particularly important to him in his life. So it's no wonder that all three passions are reflected in the various stages of his career. Born in Munich, he began studying history at the University of Münster in 2002. Today, he is Managing Director of the Finne brewery in Münster and is certain that he has found the perfect job.

Professional mosaic

Alumnus Matthias Schröder is a saxophonist, cultural manager and professor of music management

When Matthias Schröder decided to study history and journalism at the University of Münster, he decided to keep his second great passion, music, without further ado. Whilst studying, he founded the “Pindakaas Saxophone Quartet”, which has been active in its original line-up since 1989 and tours Germany. Today, he is artistic director of the Steinfurt concert gallery Bagno and teaches Music Management at the music academies in Detmold and Münster.

Detours to film

Alumna Sofia Ose is a freelance filmmaker and Wim Wenders scholarship holder

When Sofia Ose looks back on her time as a student, a picture emerges that probably describes the career of many students: It is often a long road that ultimately leads to the goal via many detours and ideas. Today, the 30-year-old works as a filmmaker, her films are screened at various festivals and she has already won one or two awards. For Sofia Ose, the first impetus for film came after the first three semesters of her studies in the “Visual Anthropology” seminar.

The wide world of knowledge

Alumna Adriane Rickel is a proofreader at a juridical publishing house and a quiz show professional

At the end of the 1990s, Adriane Rickel moved from Hunsrück to Münster. She has fond memories of her degree programmes. ‘In German studies and Philosophy, I was taught how to ask questions and understand thought processes over the centuries,’ says the 49-year-old. Today, Adriane Rickel mainly commutes between two cities: she lives and works as a proofreader in a legal publishing house in Stuttgart, and in Hamburg she plays the “hunter”, the “generalist” in the early evening quiz show “Gefragt – Gejagt”.
