The University of Münster sees gender equality as a strategically important goal. The reduction of discrimination on the basis of gender is seen as a cross-sectional task that is not only anchored at management level, but also in the faculties, disciplines and teaching units.
The compatibility of studies, career and family at the University of Münster should be made easier. All measures to improve the compatibility of work, studies and family responsibilities are aimed at those bringing up children or providing care, regardless of gender.
Barriers hinder – not only access to buildings, but also access to knowledge and information, participation in learning processes and in everyday study or work life. Because people are so different, it is not just about general solutions, but often also about individual counselling and support. The University of Münster aims to help identify, avoid or remove such obstacles with various measures.
The Faculty of History & Philosophy links equality work with multifaceted aspects of diversity, inclusion and gender as well as their transcultural and transdisciplinary reflection. Gender equality work therefore not only means measures at a structural level, but also commitment in research and teaching. Numerous courses relating to equal opportunities are regularly offered.
