This interdisciplinary master programme involves all the ancient studies disciplines networked in the Centre of Eastern Mediterranean History and Culture. It is aimed at students who are interested in the languages and texts, the history and politics, the cultures and religions, the material and ideal legacies of the Eastern Mediterranean as well as current issues.

The European Master in Classical Cultures (EMCC) is an internationally integrated, interdisciplinary programme in Classical Studies, supported by 13 partner universities from 9 European countries and offering a wide range of sub-disciplines in the field of Classical Studies. Students earn a double degree awarded by two of the participating universities.

The Master's programme "History" is designed to provide in-depth academic knowledge of the history of a wide variety of epochs/sub-epochs and cultures on the basis of theoretical concepts of history, discussion of the latest research and extensive source work, to guide students to independent research and to help them acquire key qualifications in presentation, argumentation and research techniques.

The Master programme is designed to enable students to teach the subject Greek at secondary schools. It imparts didactic and methodological concepts of teaching Greek language and literature and completes the ability to descript and reproduce the Greek language in a linguistically sound and didactically adequate manner.

The aim of this Master programme is to impart medieval and cultural studies skills for professional fields in archives, libraries, museums, universities, in exhibition management, public relations and other professions in cultural mediation, as well as for independent research. The focus is on medieval textual scholarship, lore, history and cultural history.

The interdisciplinary Master's programme deals with the material legacies of Greco-Roman antiquity and early Christianity and aims to enable students to independently assess complex scientific problems. The focus is on historical questions as well as questions of art and cultural history.

Cultural anthropology examines everyday culture with a focus on Germany in its global relations. The Master programme teaches both historical-anthropological and contemporary-ethnographic methods. Students are supported in conducting their own empirical research — be it with sources from archives, or with data from interviews or participant observation.

This Master programme provides in-depth knowledge, skills and methods in the fields of medieval, modern, and contemporary art history and is designed to enable students to independently and responsibly assess complex scientific problems and to practically apply the solutions found.

The Master programme is designed to enable students to teach the subject Latin at secondary schools. It imparts didactic and methodological concepts of teaching Latin language and literature and completes the ability to descript and reproduce the Latin language in a linguistically sound and didactically adequate manner.

The Master programme provides a broad overview from Renaissance music to contemporary music, on topics and methods of ethnomusicology and systematic musicology, on music philology, aesthetics and numerous other current fields of research. In addition to the strongly research-oriented design of the courses, the practical professional reference is also of great importance.

The Netherlands and Germany are closely linked linguistically, culturally, historically, through trade relations and European politics. In the multidisciplinary Master's programme, you will explore and experience the differences and similarities between the two countries. You learn to think in a culturally reflective way and become an expert in international cooperation in a European context.

The Master's programme imparts profound knowledge, skills and methods in the field of philosophy with a focus on theoretical or practical philosophy. It should enable students to independently and responsibly assess complex scientific problems and to practically apply the solutions found.

This Master's programme builds on the two-subject Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and prepares students for the teaching profession at secondary schools. The didactics of philosophy plays an important role. In addition, philosophical content and methods are taught that are fundamental for dealing with one's own and foreign cultures (philosophy of religion and anthropology).

This Master's programme builds on the Bachelor's degree in HRSGe Practical Philosophy and prepares students to become teachers of practical philosophy at Hauptschule, Realschule, Sekundarschule and Gesamtschule. It is studied in combination with a second subject, educational sciences and a study area on the topic of migrant pupils. The Master's degree programme in Practical Philosophy is didactically oriented.

Social anthropology looks at diverse socio-cultural lifeworlds. Social anthropologists explore human diversity, cultural similarities and differences, and modes of communication. The Master in Social Anthropology is a two year programme dedicated to the study of anthropological theories, methods, regional seminars and language training that will prepare you for your own research project.

The Master's programme imparts a reasonably in-depth, temporally and regionally differentiated knowledge of sources from the prehistoric and early historical periods of Europe and primarily prepares students for work in the heritage management, the museum sector as well as universities and research institutions. A main focus is on enabling independent and critical research.

The Master programme is designed to familiarise students with current debates in the Philosophy of Science, their interdisciplinary dimensions and their socially relevant references. The goal of the education is comprehensive competence in the field of Philosophy of Science with individually selectable, discipline-specific areas of specialisation.
