YMCN autumn school: Probability and dynamics on groups

22–26 September 2025, Münster, Germany

The interaction between probability, dynamics and group theory is an active and growing area of research with exciting recent developments. This includes in particular the study of
• random walks and Poisson boundaries,
• percolation and its relation to geometric group theory,
• ergodic theory on groups and probability measure preserving actions.
There is a diverse set of available tools, and the goals of this autumn school are to expose young researchers to these tools, to facilitate collaborations and to stimulate new interactions. In particular, we want to give young researchers a chance to share their research and connect to other young researchers in their, as well as adjacent, fields.

Schedule

The five days will feature 4 mini-courses by invited lecturers, which will be complemented with invited talks of early career researchers. In addition, there will be a ”lightning talks” session, in which every participant will present their research interests.

The detailed schedule will be announced in the weeks prior to the school.
