  • Financing

    General information:

This mobility measure is considered a business trip. This means that the time you spend at the host institution during regular working hours counts as work performed, for which you receive your normal salary. Special rules apply, however, to travel days.

Additionally, you will receive a mobility grant of up to ca. 1,500 euros from the University of Münster as the sending institution, paid for with EU funding.

    The grant includes:

    • a travel expense allowance (up to 275 euros (see table) depending on the distance)
    • a fixed daily allowance for workdays (based on the average cost of living in the destination country, usually between 140 and 160 euros per day (see table), categorised by country groups defined by the European Commission)
    • if applicable, additional fixed daily allowance for travel days (if your day of arrival and/or departure does not coincide with your first/last workday, the day of arrival/departure can be financed as a standard travel day. Travel days are financed with the same daily allowance rates as workdays.)

If you travel in an “environmentally friendly” way (i.e. use at least 50% low-emission transportation methods), you can request special “Green Travel” funding (Green Travel application).

    This consists of:

    • increased travel expense allowance (up to 45 euros more than the standard rate)
    • and the possibility to receive financing for up to four additional travel days if necessary.

    Details on financial support:

  • Insurance

Erasmus+ mobility funding does not include insurance coverage. Therefore, travellers must ensure that they are sufficiently insured for the entire duration of their trip (including work and travel days and, if applicable, holidays). For more details, please refer to our info sheets on insurance coverage and safety on business trips.

Info: The DAAD offers group insurance (consisting of health, accident and liability insurance), which Erasmus+ funding recipients can sign up for at their own cost. View the insurance details.
