The Department of Communication (IfK) at the University of Münster makes every effort to ensure that its websites comply with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and the Council, as well as the law of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on the equal treatment of people with disabilities (North Rhine-Westphalia German Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities - BGG NRW) and the Regulation on the creation of barrier-free information technology in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia Disability Equality Act (Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance of North Rhine-Westphalia (BITV NRW) as defined in Art. 3 para. 1 of Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

State of compatibility with the requirements

This website is partially compatible with the requirements due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions. Due to the central decisions of the University of Münster administration, no changes can be made to the colour concept.

Which areas are not barrier-free?

Areas that are not barrier-free:

  • PDF downloads that were published before 2020. PDF files uploaded later will be created in a barrier-free version or replaced by one as soon as possible.
  • Alumni. For reasons of data protection, there are no accessible image descriptions of the alumni galleries.
  • Subtitles of videos. For new videos we try to provide subtitles as soon as possible after publication. This also applies to seminar products.
  • Individual tables on persons and module structures. For the sake of clarity, these tables will not be changed. For machine-readable information we refer to the applicable examination regulations.
  • Research projects whose project descriptions will be replaced by barrier-free information as soon as possible.
  • Discontinued courses, as they are no longer offered.
  • Press review. Here the link titles are already available.
  • Press releases that were published before 2019. PDF files posted later will be created in a barrier-free version or replaced by such files as soon as possible.

Arbitration procedure

We will endeavor to answer your inquiries within a reasonable period of time (usually a maximum of six weeks).

If you do not receive an answer or are wholly or partially dissatisfied with the answer, you can turn to the Arbitration Service pursuant to Section 16 of the German Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (Schlichtungsstelle nach §16 Behindertengleichstellungsgesetz). The Arbitration Service will examine your case and try to find a solution within the framework of an arbitration procedure.
