Emergency Scholarship for international students from the Santander Aid Fund

The Emergency Scholarship is a short-term scholarship for international students at the University of Münster who find themselves in a financial emergency situation during their specialised studies (not exchange studies or doctoral studies). It is awarded by the International Office from third-party funds provided by Santander Consumer Bank AG.

Applications can be made at any time.

  • Who can receive the scholarship?

    Foreign‐educated students (students who have obtained their university entrance qualification outside of Germany) who do not have German citizenship and are enrolled at the University of Münster. Guest, exchange and doctoral students are not eligible for funding.

  • What are the selection criteria?

    • There is an acute financial need due to an emergency through no fault of your own.
    • The current income is below the BAföG maximum rate or there is a justified need despite a higher income.
    • An interview is required in which the personal situation and the planned measures to solve the emergency situation are presented in detail.
  • What does the scholarship include?

    The amount of the scholarship depends on the funds available and your individual situation. As a rule, you can receive financial support of up to €750 per month for up to 3 months. The grant can be awarded a maximum of twice per study programme (Bachelor or Master). Students aiming for a state examination can receive a maximum of three grants.

     

  • What documents do you need to submit?

    • Certificate of enrolment from the current semester at the University of Münster (or the semester in which you receive the grant)
    • Bank statements for the last 3 months
    • Copy of residence permit (for EU citizens: copy of identity card/passport)
    • Curriculum vitae
    • If you have already received scholarships from other organisations: Proof of this (scholarship notification, etc.)
    • Financial self-declaration
    • Final declaration

     

  • What is the further procedure?

    • Fill in the application form and upload all the documents listed above.
    • The selection committee will review your application and, if necessary, invite you to an interview in which you will present your personal situation and the measures planned to resolve the emergency situation in detail.
