After you return - opportunities to network and to get involved

Your Erasmus stay is sadly over? Here you will find ideas on how you can continue to get involved!

  • Buddy Programme

The University of Münster's Buddy Programme serves to connect international and German students. The buddies are available to international (exchange) students as contact persons for all aspects of life and accommodation in Münster. They welcome the new international students on their arrival and accompany them during their stay. The opportunity for intercultural communication enriches both the international and German students.
For more information about the programme, visit the programme's website.

  • Language tandem

There are various ways (face-to-face or digital) to improve your language skills in a language tandem.

If you register and the Language Centre finds a tandem partner for you, you will have the opportunity to learn independently together with your partner, receive support in the form of language learning advice and earn credit points for your studies.
You can find more information on the language center website.

  • Erasmus Association

Anyone can get involved with Erasmus Münster e.V., which organises numerous events for incoming students - from weekly get-togethers to weekend trips.
The association's website is currently being updated. However, more information is currently available on Instagram.

  • And now? - Workshop to follow up on a stay abroad

After a longer stay abroad, most people look forward to returning home - to their family, friends and university, for example.

However, many people quickly realise that their time abroad has brought about changes, meaning that returning home is not as easy as they had imagined. Experiences made abroad still have an impact. And both you and your familiar surroundings have often changed.

The workshop helps you to reflect on your stay abroad and work through any intercultural misunderstandings you may have experienced. Analysing the culture shock back home helps you to better understand possible difficulties on your return. In addition, opportunities are identified to utilise the experience gained both personally and professionally.

The workshop takes place once a year and is announced by e-mail.

  • 'Europe meets School'

Would you like to get involved in international exchange in Europe and the world? With the Europa macht Schule (EmS) programme, you can become active and give international students a special experience here in Germany. And: you can help to bring the world into schools in Germany! The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the association Europa macht Schule e.V. are looking for volunteers to help organise the programme locally - including in Münster.

  • ‘Back to School’

Back to School (BtS) is a programme line of Europa meets School (EmS), which was launched in 2022. Students from German universities who have studied or completed an internship abroad and went to school in Germany themselves can visit a school, e.g. one of their former schools, and present their host country! Together with the pupils, they organise a project and allow young people to share their experiences at first hand.
