In order to be admitted to a degree program, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. University entrance qualification

The University Entrance Qualification refers to academic credentials, such as a school-leaving certificate, which allows you to study in German universities. In some cases, the University Entrance Qualification is a combination of multiple documents such as a school leaving certificate and a period of study or a preparatory year. Please find country specific information concerning this matter at:

  1. German language skills

Applicants for all German-language degree programmes must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of German, usually at the DSH-2 level. Please note that some degree programs require lower (DSH-1) or higher German language skills (DSH-3). An overview of the requirements for German-language degree programmes as well as information about our study-preparatory German course can be found here:

The language requirements for our English-taught degree programmes can be found directly on the respective degree programme websites.

Fitting Bachelor’s degree (for admission to Master’s programmes)
Applicants to master’s degree programme are required to hold a bachelor’s certificate confirming that the student has completed undergraduate study lasting at least three years at a state-accredited institution of higher education. Please note that almost all regular master’s programmes at the University of Münster are so-called “consecutive” programmes, i.e. they require candidates to have completed a bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree programme in the same or related subject.
