Welcome to "On A Tangent - Voices of Mathematics Münster", where we tell the stories behind the mathematics. In each episode, we meet a different early career mathematician from Mathematics Münster, and learn about their research, their path towards mathematics, and their hopes for the future.
 

In this video series we take a look behind the scenes and learn more about outstanding mathematicians: How did they come to their scientific findings? In addition to all the genius, was there perhaps a little luck involved? Which ups and downs can research bring? The interviews provide inspiring and motivating insights.

Eva Viehmann was a guest on the podcast "Pi & Power – Klischees durchbrechen, Geschichten erzählen". She talks about her passion for algebra, her experiences as a mathematics student, her daily research work, and the stereotypes mathematicians often encounter. The podcast is produced by the Department of Mathematics at TU Darmstadt and the Collaborative Research Centre GAUS. (in German, 2025)

In a series of videos, the University of Münster presents six academics from a variety of disciplines who are either junior professors or who head a group of junior researchers. A video portrait of out investigator Dr. Theresa Simon was published. As a junior professor at the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster, she studies patterns in magnets. (2023)

Dr. Mario Schulz is a postdoctoral researcher in the field of Geometric Analysis. One of his passions is visualising his research topics to make them more vivid for other mathematicians and for the general public. In this interview, he talks about his motives. (2022)
