Open Science
Target group: doctoral and postdoctoral researchers
To increase the trustworthiness of confirmatory studies, many researchers have been specifying their research plan before conducting their studies. These preregistrations are a well-regarded practice for increasing trustworthiness and transparency of studies. In this workshop, the following topics will be covered:
1. How preregistrations prevent p-hacking and HARKing
2. Hands-on: Preregistration in 15 minutes
3. Gold standards of preregistrations: comprehensiveness, specificity, and structure
4. Tools to facilitate preregistrations and registered reports
5. Dealing with deviations
Objectives:
-
Learn about preregistration in the context of exploratory versus confirmatory research and how it can help you to design studies more efficiently
-
Familiarize yourself with best practices for preregistration
-
Get an overview of preregistration types and templates
-
Learn how to document deviations transparently
-
Discuss the feasibility and standing of preregistrations in the context of your field of research
Facilitators: Dr. Lukas Röseler (Münster Center for Open Science (MüCOS))
