Target group: doctoral researchers

This interactive workshop provides doctoral researchers with practical tools to address ethical challenges in research and uphold good scientific practices in diverse academic settings. Through real-world scenarios, engaging discussions, and collaborative exercises, participants will reflect on their roles as ethical researchers and strengthen their ability to make informed, virtues-driven decisions. Participants will leave with access to relevant resources and contacts for further guidance.

Key topics covered:

  1. Practical applications of research ethics
  2. Scientific misconduct
  3. Supervision and mentoring
  4. Collaboration in research

Outcomes:

  • Articulate and integrate core ethical principles into daily research practices
  • Distinguish between various forms of ‘bad’ scientific practices, including scientific misconduct
  • Recognise and evaluate different types of ‘good’ supervisory and mentoring relationships
  • Sharpen awareness of collaboration challenges and assess their impact at individual, professional, and community levels
  • Make informed decisions that uphold principles of good scientific practice when confronted with complex dilemmas

Requirement: B2 level proficiency in English. Participants will be required to complete a Case Reflection Form and submit it to the facilitator one week prior to the workshop. Completion of the form is a prerequisite for attending the session.

Facilitator: Dr. Iva Ognjanovic (CERes)
