Münsteraner Klimagespräch on possible paths to a socially just and green future, on February 22nd

Climate protection, as a jointly accepted and supported cause, is increasingly under attack. This is primarily due to the widespread feeling that the burdens of an ambitious climate policy are not fairly distributed. The debate surrounding the Building Energy/Heating Act, the increase in CO2 pricing and the reduction of climate-damaging subsidies have caused considerable resistance from society. In addition, communication on the part of the German government is often perceived as misguided.

How can we prevent climate protection from dividing society in the future? What needs to be done to ensure that climate protection and climate policy are supported by a broad social consensus and are given the necessary priority?

The next event in the “Münsteraner Klimagespräche” series will focus on these questions.

Guests and dialogue partners include:

  • Niklas Haarbusch, M.A. (ZIN & Institute of Sociology at the University of Münster)
  • Bulut Surat (Environment and Climate Officer at DGB-NRW)
  • Thomas Weber (energy consultant at the NRW consumer advice centre)
  • Moderation: Christine Bertels (Münster Adult Education Centre), Michael Tillmann
The climate talks are prepared by a group of supporters consisting of the Center for Interdisciplinary Sustainability Research at the University of Münster (ZIN), the Evangelical Forum, the Umweltforum Münster e. V., the Advisory Board for Municipal Development Cooperation, the Advisory Board for Climate Protection and the vhs-Münster.
