ZIN-spokeswoman Prof. Doris Fuchs attends 6th Degrowth-conference in Malmö
The 6th international Degrowth-conference for ecological sustainability and social equity will take place in Malmö from the 21st – 25th August 2018. Organized by the Institute for Degrowth Studies at LUND University, the central conference theme is “Dialogue in turbulent times”.
This title refers to economic and political crises, to social justice problems and escalating climate change which are currently shaping global events. The conference aims to strengthen the dialogue between different regions and countries of the world as well as between different worldviews. The dialogue intends to broaden the degrowth-discussion and to expand its potential for solving global problems. Therefore, the conference focuses on a variety of topics such as migration and war or the role of the Global North in the implementation of degrowth. In addition, dialogue with various critical theories will be promoted in order to discuss the contribution of feminist, post-colonial, Marxist and anarchist approaches to the degrowth debate.
ZIN-spokeswoman Prof Doris Fuchs contributes to the conference by organizing a special session titled “Excess and Sufficiency” with other researchers.
The conference concludes on 25th August with a joint demonstration by NGOs and researchers titled “Malmö for Justice” (see conference program).
