Supporting a good start at Mathematics Münster

31 new PhD students and postdocs from more than 15 countries are currently starting at Mathematics Münster. Welcome! To ensure a good start despite the current pandemic situation, there will be various offers: On Wednesday, 7 October, 1:15 pm, the "Welcome Centre" of the University of Münster will present its services and answer questions at a hybrid event. Further information events will follow. Another new offer is the Buddy Programme.

The concept of the Buddy Programme: PhD researchers and postdocs who have been working at Mathematics Münster for some time are available as contact persons for the new scientists. The "Buddies" not only answer questions about work and the University of Münster, but also provide tips for life in Münster and - as far as the corona measures allow - organize social events. "With the Buddy Programme, we are creating an exchange through which the newcomers are integrated into the community of Mathematics Münster right from the start - despite home office and distance regulations," says Dr. Imke Franzmeier, coordinator of the Cluster’s early career support.

Further events are intended to ensure that the young researchers find their way around the Cluster easily: On Thursday, 8 October, 11 am, the contact persons of the Cluster management will introduce themselves in a zoom meeting. At the end of October, "MM Welcome", a joint welcoming event organized by the Buddy Programme and the Graduate School MMGS, will take place. Professors will welcome the new Cluster members in Münster and there will be opportunities for networking and interdisciplinary exchange.
