International knowledge exchange on climate communication: Climate scientist Justas Kažys visits the IfK

(10.06.2024) Justas Kažys, PhD, is currently a guest researcher at the Department of Communication in Münster. Justas Kažys teaches and researches at the Institute of Geosciences at Vilnius University in Lithuania as an associate professor in the field of climate science. He focuses on climate change processes and their representation in public communication.

Already in his early professional years, Justas Kažys developed a keen interest in applied climate science and climate change adaptation and modeling. In recent years, he has focused on social climatology and analyzing climate change processes in terms of public communication, awareness raising and online information on climate change in the Baltic Sea region. He also continues to research and analyze the interdisciplinary social and natural aspects of climate change impacts on society and nature.

From 2024, he will be chair of the Master's program “Climate System Studies” at Vilniu University, where he teaches the subjects “Climate Change Management” and “Climate Change” for Bachelor students, among others. He will be a guest at the Dapartment of Communication from June 10-14, during which time he will primarily be discussing research projects in the field of climate change communication.
