  • B.Sc. Human Movement in Sports and Exercise

    Institute of Sport and Exercise Science

    The aim of the Bachelor of Science degree is a multidisciplinary approach to human movement and exercise. It is geared towards those students who are interested in the scientific and medical aspects of human movement and sports, as well as research-oriented activities in academia and/or other institutions. The programme consists of 15 modules including a bachelor's thesis, distributed over six semesters. During these semesters you will learn about different theories and concepts in the fields of sports sociology, sports psychology, training, motor function and several others. Special attention will be given to research methods within each of the disciplines. Practice-oriented courses will be offered in the field of rehabilitation and competitive sports.

Master's degree courses

  • M.Sc. Business Development

    The Master's programme in Business Development at the University of Münster not only prepares you to found your own start-up or or to develop an existing one even further. It will also equip you for jobs in senior or management positions in business and administration, e.g. in industrial, commercial and service companies, in international or global companies, in general management, in the field of management consulting, in-house consulting or in private equity companies. The students work on real practical cases, prepare presentations and present them to selected representatives from the areas of research and practice. From the first semester on, you will work in small groups on a business plan in order to become familiar with practical business development issues.

  • M.Sc. Economics

    The Master's degree programme in Economics builds on a Bachelor's degree in economics or a related discipline.
    In the first year of your Master's programme, you will take the four core subjects of economics (microeconomics, macroeconomics, regulation and empirical methods). Building on this, you can design your own study profile from the very first semester.
    At the end of your degree programme, you will complete the project studies and the Master's thesis, in which you will answer a research question in depth.

    The Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies at Münster University is a collaboration between the Institute of Geoinformatics, Universitat Jaume I (Dept. Lenguajes y Sistemas Informaticos, Castellón, Spain) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Instituto Superior de Estatística e Gestão de Informação, Lisbon, Portugal). Held in English, the three-semester masters course is aimed at graduates of bachelor courses in the field of geoinformatics.

    The Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Public Sector InnOvation and EGovERnance (PIONEER) is a 120 ECTS joint master programme organized by the KU Leuven, the University of Münster and Tallinn University of Technology.

    E-Governance and the digitalization of the public sector are most likely one of the most important reform trends for the future public sector. That’s why the public sector of the future needs experts who combine knowledge in public administration and public management on the one hand, and information systems and eGovernance on the other hand.     The English-taught Master of Science ‚Sports, Exercise and Human Performance‘ represents a highly specialized masters degree focussing on research. In particular the study program is characterized by its alignment on scientific methods as well as its strong direction into internationally used standards and the imparting of field-typical ‚soft-skills‘ without implicating any sport specific practices. The study program aims to enable students to work in research-based occupational areas, and to make decisions in generating knowledge, diagnostics, planning and evaluating independently.

  • M.A. British, American and Postcolonial Studies

  • M.A. National and Transnational Studies: Literature, Culture, Language

    Department of Philology

    Because the Masters Course in National and Transnational Studies is focused particularly on Anglophile literature and culture, most of the teaching is done in the English Department. However, students also have the opportunity to integrate interdisciplinary components into their studies. These can include, for example, other languages, history, social sciences or ethnology.

  • M.A. Social Anthropology / Sozialanthropologie

    Department of History and Philosophy

    Social Anthropology is the science of cultural identities and differences. It aims to observe, analyse and interpret domains of social action that reflect cultural characteristics in a theoretically grounded and methodically consistent manner. Comparison of societies provides the basic theoretical perspective and informs the analytical and methodological approaches. Social-anthropological knowledge and competence enable one to interact in these domains of action in a scientifically valid, socially relevant and ethically responsible manner. This aim of this programme is to apply and further develop specific theories and current research issues in Social Anthropology through an empirical research project.

  • M.A. Comparative Public Governance (Double-degree master's Programme)

    Department of Political Sciences of the University of Münster / Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences of the University of Twente (The Netherlands)

    The Master’s degree in Comparative Public Governance is a 2-year programme offered jointly by the University of Münster and the University of Twente. Lectures are held at the Centre for European Studies (Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, University of Twente) and the Institute for Political Science (University of Münster). Students who successfully complete this programme receive two diplomas: A Master of Science in "European Studies" (60 EC) of the University of Twente and a Master of Arts in "Comparative Public Governance" (120EC) of the University of Münster. Students develop key professional skills, which can translate into concrete career opportunities (including an academic career).

  • M.Sc. Geophysics

    The research-oriented Master’s Programme in Geophysics at University of Münster focusses on Geodynamics, Seismology and Applied Geophysics. The program aims at a close integration between research and teaching. During their first year, students receive advanced training in the three research fields mentioned above. In addition, they choose supplementary classes in Geoscience, Physics and other topics. During the second year, students carry out an independent research project that finally results in their Master’s thesis. They are fully integrated into one of the research groups of the institute and are supervised by a leading scientist in their field. The program takes two years in total.

  • M.Sc. Business Chemistry

    The Business Chemistry programme combines chemistry and management. The Master's degree programme in Business Chemistry in Münster is a unique combination of business and natural science modules - research-oriented, practice-oriented and specially tailored to your future career. The programme starts in the winter semester with an introductory course to make it easier for students to switch from the laboratory to economics. The first two semesters focus on the fundamentals of economics, while in the third semester students specialise more deeply in chemistry. The Master's thesis is written in the fourth semester.
