How is agriculture carried out in Vietnam? How does sustainable urban development work in Hanoi?
From September 1 to September 14, ZIN-member Prof. Gabriele Schrüfer conducted an excursion to Vietnam with students of the Institute for Geography Education at the University of Münster. The excursion took the group both to the capital Hanoi and the surrounding villages, as well as to the south of the country to Ho Chi Minh City. The students visited schools, local NGOs and businesses and learned about ecological agriculture, urban development, mobility, sustainable development, the ecological consequences of tourism and education for sustainable development.
Before the excursion began, the group also attended the international conference titled “Geography Education in Vietnam and International Experience” in Hanoi on 29th August 2018. Prof. Schrüfer gave the keynote speech on Education for Sustainable Development. Over the course of the conference, she also spoke on “Reviewing System Thinking in Vietnam Secondary Geography Textbooks”. During the conference, the students met experts on education for sustainable development and exchanged ideas with students from the Institute of Geography Education in Hanoi.
During their trip, the students recorded their experiences in Vietnam on a blog.
