New professor of theoretical mathematics: Anna Siffert
We welcome Prof Anna Siffert to the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster. She was appointed a professor of theoretical mathematics and commenced on 1 April 2020.
Prof Siffert’s primary research interests lie in the field of global differential geometry and its interactions with topology, analysis and complex geometry. One of her research topics is the classification of isoparametric hypersurfaces in spheres. Within the Cluster’s research programme she will contribute to research unit B1 “smooth, singular and rigid spaces in geometry”.
Prof Siffert received her diploma from the University of Bonn and her PhD from Ruhr University Bochum. Afterwards she spent a year at the University of Pennsylvania funded by a DFG research grant. She has come to the University of Münster from the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn where she held a postdoc position. Two aspects of being a mathematician that she particularly enjoys are developing new theories and exchanging ideas with people from all over the world.
Her teaching has already started this week: the lecture on “Differentialformen und Mannigfaltigkeiten” was held in digital form – in accordance with the corona circumstances. We wish Anna Siffert a good start and a successful and inspiring time in Münster!
