

Second edition of the media reception handbook published
(10.02.2025) The comprehensively updated and expanded second edition of the Handbook of Media Reception has been published. Edited by Volker Gehrau, Helena Bilandzic, Holger Schramm and Carsten Wünsch, the 770-page handbook provides a comprehensive overview of the subjects and theories of reception research.
In 37 contributions, fundamental concepts of media reception are presented, questions of attention and selection are examined and specific phenomena and modes of experience are highlighted. The most important contexts of media reception are also examined. In addition to the editor Volker Gehrau, Stephan Niemand from the IfK is also represented in the handbook with a contribution.
The handbook is aimed at a broad specialist audience in communication science and related subjects such as sociology, psychology, political science and educational science.
