On Penance and Punishment
Major Conference on Criminal Justice from the Middle Ages to the Modern Era
How and for what reasons were criminals punished in earlier times, which courts were responsible for their sentencing and how did legal procedures change over time? These questions will be explored at the (mostly German-language) conference "Von Bußen und Strafen. Gerichtliche Verfolgung von Unrecht ", which will take place from 6 to 8 April 2022 at the University of Münster (WWU). The practice of criminal proceedings will be the main focus of this academic colloquium.
