'Alfried Krupp Award' for Prof. Benedikt Wirth
CiM mathematician receives award worth one million euros
Great success for CiM group leader Prof. Benedikt Wirth: The mathematician was honoured with the 'Alfried Krupp Award' for young university professors. Universities and research centres from across Germany had nominated 55 candidates for the prize. Benedikt Wirth, at 31 years of age, was the youngest among them. The jury of the 'Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung' unanimously decided to award him the prize which is endowed with one million euros. With the money Benedikt Wirth intends to establish his own research group and to pursue new research questions.
