Frank Natterer was the Director of the Institute from 1981. He retired from official duties in 2006 and since then focusses on his mathematical research only. His main interest is the mathematical investigation of inverse and ill-posed problems, with a focus on mathematics in tomography. Information about his life are in his Resume and his Wikipedia page.
