THE ZEUGS LECTURE SERIES IN THE SUMMER SEMESTER 2020!
In the summer semester 2020 Prof. Gabriele Wilde is organizing the ZEUGS lecture in cooperation with Prof. Annette Zimmer and Dr. Mareike Gebhardt:
RISKANTE KÜNSTLER*INNEN. POTENZIALE UND GEFÄHRDUNGEN IN DER KREATIVWIRTSCHAFT
In the course of #metoo discussions gender relations - and thus also power relations - have moved to the center of political interest in the creative industry. Despite its supposed freedom, creativity in late modern economic calculations is still subject to increased efficiency and marketing optimization. In addition, aestheticization is often tied to dominant ideal conceptions of beauty, which are based on (ethno-)sexist or misogynous concepts. Finally, a split between the elite and the precarious (Butler, Lorey) can also be observed in the creative industries and the neighboring "culture industry" (Horkheimer/Adorno), which also runs along gender norms.
To investigate these questions, the lecture series examines the roles that women* play in the creative class. The aim of the lecture series is therefore to tie in with „das Dispositiv der Kreativen“ (Reckwitz) and to illuminate the gender-political dimensions of the creative industries from an interdisciplinary perspective. Women* from the creative industries as well as academics - both theoretical and empirical - will have their say.
