Rehabilitation after chronic ankle instability (currently not possible due to Coivd-19)

Coursework credits for Bachelor and Master students

We are looking for a bachelor/master students with an interest in clinical biomechanics. Experience with Qualisys and marker labelling is beneficial.

Background and aim

Ankle inversion trauma is one of the most frequent occurring lower limb injuries. While most people recover, there remains a high chance of re-injuring the ankle and in some cases, the injury becomes chronic. Therefore, we have started a study looking into the rehabilitation process after acute or chronic ankle inversion trauma. As soon as we are allowed to start measuring again in the OpenLab, we can continue our rehabilitation study.

Your assignment

We are looking for a student to support the measurements in the OpenLab and who would like to perform a research study or thesis on this topic. We are gathering a lot of data: clinical data on muscle volume and structural damage; Physiotherapeutic data on joint mobility, activities, skin sensitivity and pain; And kinematic and kinetic data from the 3-dimensional movement recordings in the OpenLab. Therefore, different research questions are possible. If you are interested, please let us know and we can discuss the possibilities.

Possible Projects
