Videos of the lecture series “Introduction to the Digital Humanities”
Selected videos from the lecture series “Introduction to the Digital Humanities” (organized by the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” and the Centre for Digital Humanities at the University of Münster) provide an insight into the methods used by the digital humanities and social sciences. The summer term of 2022 saw lecturers from the University of Münster as well as external speakers explore various methods used by the digital humanities, as well as the issue of dealing with research data responsibly.
Besides more general considerations of the tools used by the digital humanities, the lectures also dealt with more detailed issues such as automatic text recognition for historical manuscripts, the differences between editing in digital space and classical editing in book form, as well as the evaluation and visualization of complex data structures.
The lecture series was organized by historian Dr. Felicity Jensz and Egyptologist Prof. Dr. Angelika Lohwasser from the Cluster of Excellence, and by church historian Dr. Sascha Hinkel from the Seminar for Medieval and Modern Church History at the University of Münster. All three are also members of the University of Münster’s Centre for Digital Humanities, an interdisciplinary network that aims to identify, bring together, and strengthen the interests and skills of the digital humanities at the University of Münster.
