Welcome to the website of the Graduate School Empirical and Applied Linguistics!
The Graduate School offers the opportunity to do a doctorate in the field of linguistics in the form of a structured degree programme. The doctoral subjects include all languages in Faculty 09 and Psychology (Faculty 07). We emphasise networking with each other and interdisciplinarity within linguistics. Through regular events such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures and conferences, the doctoral students are in regular dialogue with the teaching staff of the Graduate School and external academics. They support each other with their dissertations and together acquire all the necessary skills for their research and future careers.

Call for applications: DAAD Scholarhips 2026
The Graduate School of Empirical and Applied Linguistics at the University of Münster welcomes applications for 2 PhD scholarships funded by the DAAD on the topic of pluricentric languages from candidates from developing countries.
Application deadline is April 1, 2025. Starting date of the scholarship is April 1, 2026.
