Bachelor program Geophysics

The bachelor's degree program in geophysics is open-admission. An application procedure, as is usual for admission-restricted courses of study, does not have to be gone through. The general university entrance qualification is sufficient for admission to the program. In certain cases, it is also possible to study without a high school diploma high school diploma.

The Bachelor's program can only be started in the winter semester. Enrollment (also called matriculation) is done online. The portal is usually activated from the beginning of August. You can find out which documents are required and which deadlines must be met here.

Application deadlines

The application deadline for the winter semester always starts at the beginning of May and ends on 15 September. For the summer semester, the application deadline starts at the beginning of November of the previous year and ends on 15 March. Application documents

  1. proof of a general university entrance qualification or an appropriate subject-specific university entrance qualification
  2. proof of a first degree (at least BSc level) in a relevant subject with a minimum standard duration of at least 6 semesters and a final overall grade of at least "satisfactory" (or an ECTS grade of at least "C")
  3. curriculum vitae in tabular form
  4. proof of completed studies and examinations (e.g. transcript of record)
  5. credit point assessment form which lists the successfully completed courses in Geophysics, Physics and Mathematics and also gives an information about their credit points according to the ECTS standard. If the ECTS system is not used, the workload has to be specified.
  6. if applicable, proof of sufficient English language skills (at least level B2, native speaker of English, German higher education entrance qualification including English with a grade of at least ausreichend or Bachelor's degree programme completed in English).
  7. if applicable, further documents demonstrating the aptitude and motivation for the desired programme (e.g. job references, documentation of work experience or other relevant additional qualifications).
  8. if applicable, documents proving a specific case of hardship (e.g., certificate of disability).
