Abstract
In my talk, I will discuss unpublished findings on memory recovery and false memory implantation. Re-exposure to memory-related cues can recover forgotten aversive information. The recovery process can be misguided to implant false memories. We find that persistent silent memories are stored as plasticity in the memory center of the fly to support the re-emergence of forgotten memory. Together, our work presents the first insights into the distinct neural mechanisms behind true and false memory formation.
