Access to VMware IT Academy courses and software downloads is only available after a multi-step registration process.
If you would like to download and use the Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro applications, all you need to do is follow the instructions "Create a Broadcom account" and "Download Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro". These applications have been provided free of charge by VMware since May 2024.
To get started, please contact the NWZ hotline via email. Please note that registration is only possible with your WWU email address (@uni-muenster.de or @wwu.de).
You will then be placed on a participant list by a program administrator and receive an invitation email to register for the D2L portal with the service provider Brightspace.
Enter your WWU email address to which the invitation was sent.
Choose a password that does not match your WWU password.
Enter your first and last name.
Confirm the terms and conditions of participation.
You can subscribe to an email newsletter (optional).
Then click on Create Account.
You first need a software license key for the product you want to use. To do this, click on the “Request Software License Keys (for individuals)” link in the “Get VMware Software & Licenses” menu.
You can go ahead and download the software from VMware now. To do this, click the "Back" button twice in the browser to return to the second previous web page.
Go to the website https://support.broadcom.com and click on “Register” to create an account for Broadcom. You only need to do this once if you do not yet have Braodcom access or your existing VMware account has already been migrated to Broadcom.
Click on “Register” in the top to start the registration process.
You will receive an "Activation Code" by email to the registered address. You must enter this code to confirm on the website and click "Verify & Continue".
Complete your Broadcom profile by entering your first name, last name, country, job title and a unique personal password. Accept the terms of use and click on "Create Account".
As Workstation and Fusion are now freely available, a Brightspace account is no longer required
is no longer required for students who only need access to Workstation and Fusion.
In this case you can continue with the step "Create Broadcom Account".
Go to https://support.broadcom.com/ and log in with your Broadcom account when prompted to do so.
Click on "Software" at the top left, then "VMware Cloud Foundation" and then "My Downloads".
In our example, we select VMware Workstation Pro.
If necessary, select the product for the appropriate operating system and click on the latest version in the appropriate place. At the time of the instructions "17.5.2".
