  • Current information for the summer semester 2024: New professorship in the didactics of social sciences

Katrin Hahn-Laudenberg will take over the Professorship of Didactics of Social Sciences in the summer semester 2024. Prior to her appointment at the University of Münster, she was Junior Professor of Education and Democracy Education in the Context of Integration and Migration at Leipzig University.

Her research interests focus on the development of political skills in students. Among other things, she examines the knowledge and attitude structures of pupils and related learning opportunities, the design of controversy in the classroom and possibilities for participatory school development.

As the national research coordinator for Schleswig-Holstein, she is part of the national study management of the IEA's International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS 2022), which examines how eighth-grade students are and will be prepared for their role as citizens in a democracy in an international comparison. The national report on the study has just been published (open access). For ICCS 2027, she is also leading the international expert group for the further development of the test on political knowledge and argumentation in the study.
