Master thesis announcement in the field of drug development
Tasks of the master thesis
Within the scope of a master thesis, small molecule inhibitors of the protein kinase CK2 are to be
synthesized and characterized using standard analytical methods. The target compounds will be
investigated for their inhibitory potency applying state-of-the-art methods in the research group.
Further profiling of the substances in cell culture or, if necessary, further assays will also be carried
out in the group or in cooperation with other research groups. Besides the experimental work in the
laboratory (synthesis and testing), the typical spectrum of tasks include independent research of
relevant literature, conscientious laboratory documentation up to the writing of the final thesis and
the presentation of results.
The project is especially suitable for students of chemistry and pharmacy.
Requirements
- Study of pharmacy (Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences) or chemistry (Master of Chemistry)
- Very good to good academic performance
- Structured way of working and ability to work independently
- Interest and pleasure in practical organic chemistry
- High motivation and interest in working on complex medicinal chemistry issues
Subject to available job funding as well as sufficient qualification, the possibility to write a PhD thesis
following the Master's thesis will be offered.
