Food supplements based on D-mannose
In the present study, seven mannose preparations from the trade were investigated. The quantification of the mannose content was carried out with a specific chromatographic method: HPAEC-PAD.
Instrument parameters, analytical conditions and example chromatograms
All samples were additionally analysed qualitatively by U(H)PLC-ESI/qTOF. The results (base peak chromatograms, "BPC") are shown below as a stacked plot (analysis conditions: on request).
Conclusion
The quality of all mannose-containing samples analysed was satisfactory with respect to the content of the declared ingredient D-mannose and not objectionable. The results were published in a scientific journal: DOI: 10.1055/a-1857-9517
Figure 1. D-mannose. In aqueous solution, an equilibrium of the two anomeric pyranose forms is established (approx. 65% α- and 35% β-form). The two anomeric furanose forms (not shown) and the open-chain structure are detectable only in traces.
