Course modules - Summer Semester 2025
How do you study missiology in Münster?
As the subject is located at the University of Münster within the Section for Systematic Theology, seminars completed at the institute can generally be credited as compulsory main seminars in the field of systematic theology. Missionology and non-European theologies and the associated fields of intercultural theology and interreligious studies can be studied in the introductory and advanced studies of Catholic theology in two modules in particular: In both the advanced module "Theology in Dialogue" (AM FW-A) and the advanced module "Interdenominational, interreligious and intercultural studies" (VM FW-A), our institute offers courses in which the missiology topics of Christian theologies in non-European cultures, comparative theology and religions and intercultural conflicts are regularly covered. Details can be found in the current module descriptions.
In addition, the institute regularly offers other lectures, seminars, excursions and language courses on various areas and current issues in missiology and non-European theologies, which students can choose for their optional coursework depending on their interests. Particularly worth mentioning are the regular courses on "Christianity in Asia" as well as excursions to Iran (2016), Lebanon (2019), Senegal West Africa (August 2024) and soon to India (February 14-28, 2026).
