In the SupraPhoto lab we are interested in investigating photochemical reactions in supramolecular structures or micelles as reaction vessels. Supramolecular structures create a unique microenvironment which can allow for reactivity and selectivity in photochemical reactions which cannot be otherwise obtained.
We are interested in breaking the boundaries of conventional approaches by using a synergistic approach combining supramolecular chemistry, photochemistry an asymmetric synthesis. Hereby, we will take advantage of the increased local concentration, stability, control and fixation exhibited by the supramolecular structures on substrates to enhance selective reactivity for new synthetic strategies. Additionally, the reactions are easy to execute and run in water as an environmentally friendly solvent.
