With the joining of the University of Münster and the University of Montenegro at the end of 2022 and the start of funding in October 2023, the university alliance consists of eight members.

The six founding members of the alliance, which was established in 2019, are the University of Seville, the University of Côte d'Azur, the University of Genoa, the Technical University of Kosice, the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and the Management Centre Innsbruck.

  • University of Seville

    With over 70,000 students, the historic Universidad de Sevilla is the second largest university in Spain, combining tradition with innovative development. It is one of the country's leading universities and is internationally recognised for its academic research. Its 27 faculties offer a wide range of courses.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Energy, Transport, Mobility for Smart Cities" promotes education, research and innovation in the areas of efficient and intelligent energy generation and storage, transport and mobility, with the aim of shaping the cities of the future.

  • University Côte d'Azur

    The University Côte d'Azur was established in January 2020 as an experimental university. This special status allows it to develop according to modern and independent strategies. It has been awarded the IDEX prize, which rewards excellence initiatives, and is one of the top 10 research-intensive universities in France. Research at the University Côte d'Azur aims to address major scientific and societal challenges. It covers a wide range of objectives, approaches and methods, from fundamental theoretical research to applied research.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Aging & Well-being" deals with topics such as "Aging in the City", "Silver Economy", "Environmental Influences on Aging and Well-being" and "Understanding the Aging Process".

  • University of Genoa

    The University of Genoa was founded in the 15th century and is one of the largest universities in Italy. In national rankings, UniGe regularly occupies one of the top five places among Italian universities. It stands out for its high-quality multidisciplinary and multinational study programmes, its research projects and innovation activities, and its active technology transfer. UniGe has many years of experience in the field of social cohesion and strengthening civic engagement.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Robotics" will promote robotics-related research and education in the following areas: Industrial automation, smart cities and communities, healthcare and related demographic challenges, tourism and cultural heritage, construction, logistics and mobility.   • Technical University of Košice

    The more than 10,000 students at the Technical University of Košice are spread across nine faculties. In addition to economics and design, the research-orientated university offers an impressive variety of technical disciplines. Through cooperation with the private sector and industrial communities, TUKE has become an important player and driving force for regional development.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Digitalisation Transformation for Industry" focuses on the continuous improvement and innovation of industrial production and relevant public services through digitisation.

  • Haaga-Helia University of Applied Science

    Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences is one of the most business-oriented universities in Finland, focusing on cooperation, entrepreneurship, innovation and internationality. Through teaching, research and development, it educates professionals for business and services.

    It has a strong research profile in entrepreneurship, pedagogy, sales and services. As a practice-oriented university, it actively combines its research activities with valuable contacts in the Finnish business community and thus stands for innovation in the Helsinki area.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Applied Artificial Intelligence for Business and Education" promotes the use of AI tools and methods to address the challenges associated with AI.

  • Management Center Innsbruck

    As an entrepreneurial university, Management Center Innsbruck combines science, business and consulting in a unique concept. Innovative study programmes at Bachelor and Master level as well as postgraduate research programmes create a dynamic atmosphere. With 250 partner universities worldwide, internationality is an integral part of the MCI programme.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Entrepreneurship & Impact" aims to create a space in the Ulysseus network for motivated talents - regardless of their geographical location - to realise innovative ideas with an entrepreneurial spirit in a sustainable way. The focus is on accelerating technological business models by using established structures, integrating partner services from the regional ecosystem and creating new formats and structures at the university.

  • University of Montenegro

    Founded in 1974, the "Univerzitet Crne Gore" (University of Montenegro) is the oldest university in Montenegro and has 19 faculties and 3 research institutes. In addition to working with the public sector, it conducts numerous research projects to support its economic, social and international environment. As the country's leading research institution, the University makes an important contribution to the development of Montenegro.

    Its Ulysseus Innovation Hub "Cybersecurity" focuses on solutions to the increasing cybersecurity risks and the lack of cyber skills, with malware, phishing, ransomware and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) being among the most common threat vectors.
