Animal experimentation and husbandry at Münster University
Animal experimentation is carried out at the University of Münster. This includes testing which is subject to animal welfare legislation (for example, with mice), as well as experiments which, from a legal point of view, are not considered to belong to the category of animal experimentation (for example, using fruit flies or water fleas).
Experiments on animals are carried out mainly in research, on a small scale or in teaching. The University of Münster is conscious of its special responsibility for the protection of laboratory animals and regularly advocates measures for improvement, reduction or (where possible) replacement in research work from the point of view of animal welfare.
