  • Social-Emotional Integration in Childhood and Adolescence (SOCEMI-CA)

Integration into social contexts such as school, peer groups and family is crucial for the development of children and adolescents. This project aims to evaluate the questionnaire on Social-Emotional Integration in Childhood and Adolescence (SOCEMI-CA). The psychometric properties of the questionnaire will be analyzed. As part of the validation, associations of social-emotional integration with social-emotional skills, internalizing and externalizing problems, well-being and resources will also be investigated. The project contributes to expanding the body of research on understanding the needs of children and adolescents with regard to their social-emotional integration.

  • Tuning in to Kids (TIK)

Parents play an important role in the emotional development of their children. The parenting program Tuning in to Kids (TIK), developed at the University of Melbourne, aims to provide parents with the best possible support in helping their children develop various emotional competencies. In six weekly group sessions, the program focuses on recognizing one's own emotions and those of the children, as well as on understanding and coping with emotions. Based on this, parents' reactions to children's emotions in particular will be explored in everyday situations. Within the framework of this research project, TIK was offered to parents of primary school children. The training effects are being investigated empirically and publications from this project are in preparation.

  • Emotion Socialization in Primary School Age (EmoS)

Previous research emphasizes the importance of parental behavior for the emotional development of their children. This study examines the importance of parental attitudes towards their own and others' emotions, their specific reactions to the child's emotions, and the general emotional family climate for children's emotional competence. Parents of elementary school children were surveyed in an online study. Publications are in preparation.

  • Emotional Competencies and Resources in Childhood and Adolescence (EMCORES)

The importance of resources for development in childhood and adolescence has been widely documented. In this project, the role of various personal (e.g., self-efficacy, self-esteem, optimism) and social resources (e.g., school integration, parental support) for emotional competencies, psychosocial adjustment and well-being is investigated. In addition, the aim is to evaluate the English version of the Process-Oriented Emotion Regulation Measure for Children and Adolescents (POEM-CA; Rüth & Lohaus, 2023) and the Questionnaire to Assess Resources for Children and Adolescents (QARCA 8-16; Lohaus & Nussbeck, 2016) in order to make the measurement instruments available for international research.
