Local initiative commemorates book burnings

80 years ago, book burnings took place all over Germany, also in Münster: National Socialists and right-wing students’ groups literally purged writings they considered to be oppositional to their ideology, even to be degenerate. The campaign “Pull the books out of the fire!”, of which students of the GSPol are part, will commemorate this dark chapter of the history of Münster on Saturda, 11th May. Readings from authors, whose texts were burned 80 years ago, are being held in the exact same spots of the gruesome bonfires of 1933. of the fire!
