Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry 2025

At this year's ‘Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry’ conference, Dr Dmitrii Kalinin was awarded the 2025 Innovation Award for Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The Innovation Award is presented jointly by the Medicinal Chemistry Section of the GDCh and the Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry Section of the DPhG to outstanding young scientists.
The text of the certificate reads:
‘The prize is awarded to Dr Kalinin in recognition of his outstanding, original and forward-looking research work. Mr Kalinin has made considerable scientific contributions to the medicinal chemistry of anticoagulants. His work on novel inhibitors of factor XIIa and the associated structure-activity relationships is particularly innovative. This has resulted in new approaches to anticoagulant therapy. The scientific success of his innovative work is impressively documented by publications in high-ranking international journals.‘
The Medicinal Chemistry Section of the German Chemical Society awards the 2025 Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry Doctoral Prize to Dr Wenxin Felix Zhu. In his doctoral thesis, Dr Zhu established the potassium channel Slack as a new drug target for the treatment of histamine-independent itching and synthesised promising bioactive tricyclics, which were successfully tested in animal experiments.
