XEmacs is a text editor that can be operated both graphically and in a console. XEmacs' text editing mode provides functions for editing words, text paragraphs (delete, move, etc.), syntax highlighting to make source texts more readable, and user-defined keyboard shortcuts to run self-defined macros for text editing. Users can reconfigure almost all the functionality of the editor using the Emacs Lisp programming language.
