Add-ons, also called "extensions", are small programs that can extend the functionality of a browser. Thus, the browser can be customized according to personal needs and missing functions can be added, such as an ad blocker, password manager or even media tools. In the following step-by-step instructions, the download and insertion of add-ons for different browsers is shown.
To access the add-ons, click on the "Customize and Manage" icon and open "More Tools" to access the subtab "Extensions".
Afterwards, you will get access to the add-ons overview menu. There you can manage the downloaded add-ons. To get to the main menu click the icon in the top left corner. From there you can connect to the "Chrome Web Store" or you can use this link.
The web store looks like other app stores and it is possible to download numerous add-ons. However, you should inform yourself in advance how secure the respective add-on is. Some of them require access to page content and can thus access vulnerable data. Therefore, read comments from other users beforehand or get information from the search engine of your choice.

Safari downloads entire programs, which you can also launch and edit individually.
To then access the Safari add-ons overview menu, klick on settings with the right mouse button again or press "Command + ,".
Go to the installed add-ons via the "Extensions" tab and activate them. Alternatively to the first two steps, you can open "More extensions" at the bottom right.
