The Federal President received the Board of Trustees of the Hermann Kunst-Stiftung at Bellevue Palace in Berlin yesterday (Monday, 17 February). Frank-Walter Steinmeier is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hermann Kunst-Stiftung, which supports the work of the Institute for New Testament Textual Research (INTF). Prof Holger Strutwolf, Director of the INTF at the University of Münster and Managing Director of the Hermann Kunst Foundation, was represented from Münster. Prof Strutwolf was accompanied by Dean Prof Arnulf von Scheliha (member of the Board of Trustees) and Dr Jan Graefe, curator of the INTF-affiliated Bible Museum.
The Hermann Kunst Foundation was established in 1964. Bishop Hermann Kunst, who gave the foundation its name, was able to win over the then Federal Chancellor Ludwig Erhardt as the first Chairman of the Board of Trustees. After his death in 1977, the then Federal President Walter Scheel took over this position. His successors were Federal Presidents Roman Herzog, the late Horst Köhler and Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
‘It is a great honour for the Hermann Kunst-Stiftung, the INTF and the Bible Museum to be received here at Bellevue Palace by Federal President Steinmeier. It is a great support for our research on the Greek New Testament,’ said Prof Strutwolf. The aim of this work is to reconstruct the original text of the New Testament.
