Onboarding of Professors

Welcome to the University of Münster!

Getting started at a new university is often challenging – even for professors. In order to give you the best possible support, we created the event series “Onboarding of Professors”. As soon as you officially commence your employment here, the HR Development department will contact you to invite you to various events.

You can look forward to Fireside Chats and Lunch Talks to help you network and encourage dialogue with other first-time and newly appointed professors and central contacts in the Rectorate and University administration. You will also receive ‘Inputs’ from our department heads, consisting of the most important information about our internal structures and processes, as well as the broad array of support services available to you at the University of Münster.

We’re already looking forward to greeting you at these events!

As a professor, not only are you expected to meet your responsibilities as a researcher, instructor and science manager, but also to frequently assume a leadership role. Therefore, we recommend signing up for our leadership seminars, to gain in-depth knowledge of “staff management” and to reflect on your own role.

We also invite you to take a look at our professional development recommendations for professors and assistant professors.

You can find further details concerning the onboarding of professors on the University’s intranet pages.
