The institutes belong to the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FB 6):
- Institute of Education (IfE)
- Department of Communication (IfK)
- Institute of Political Science (IfPol)
- Institute of Sociology (IfS)
These institutes are among some of the oldest and largest in Germany. With over 3,600 students majoring in the specific subjects taught at the faculty and more than 13,500 students enrolled in teaching degree programmes, the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences is the fourth largest at the University of Münster.
The faculty has two central governing bodies: the Dean’s Office and the Faculty Board. In addition, it appoints standing commissions, examination boards and other committees to carry out its central tasks. For more information about the structure and responsibilities of the faculty, see the Faculty Regulations (right sidebar, in German only). The Faculty Board is responsible for supporting research efforts, offering academic consultation, promoting junior researchers and enhancing gender equality within the faculty.
