At a ceremony in the Schloss, the Rectorate of the University of Münster awarded 14 young academics with the Dissertation Prize 2024 for outstanding work in their respective subject areas. In addition to scientific excellence, the award-winning dissertations must impress with a high degree of originality and make a significant contribution to current research. The prizes, each endowed with 3,500 euros, were awarded by Rector Prof. Dr. Johannes Wessels and Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Maike Tietjens and Prof. Dr. Monika Stoll. The prize money is intended to support the prizewinners' further research work at the University of Münster or at another national or international university.

This year's winner in the Department of Biology is Dr. Lars Eicholt from Prof. Dr. Erich Bornberg-Bauer's group at the Institute of Evolution and Biodiversity.
