Projektbeschreibung:
The Geomundus 2011 conference was successfully held on the 28th and 29th of October in Muenster, Germany. Approximately 70 participants attended the two-day event at the stunning Muenster Castle. Geomundus 2011 built on the accomplishments of previous years' conferences and will provide an invaluable foundation for next year's Geomundus 2012 event in Lisbon, Portugal.

The conference focused on multiple missions and objectives. As a scientific conference the presentation of research results from young researchers was one mission. Moreover the conference concentrated on different topics from Geosciences. Thus it was divided into different thematic sessions. Besides the research mission the conference was planed as an environment for networking and connecting communities. This includes also a career development session. The visibility of the University in public and at other Universities was also part of the arrangement.

All missions and objectives could be accomplished.

Several guest speakers submitted a short paper or poster. The program included student presentations and presentations from the invited guest speakers from science (USA), business (Netherlands) and NGO (United Kingdom). Overall a broad range of geo related topics were covered. Furthermore the invited guest speakers gave their valuable input during the career session. The networking aspect could be realized with the help of the Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA). A social program funded by EMA included a dinner and a city tour. PR activities like flyers or the social web like Facebook obtained the visibility facet. The organizer focused on partner Universities in Spain and Portugal.

The conference was an excellent learning, networking and social experience for all involved.
