FAQ (Online Training)
Updated: February 18, 2025
Format: Zoom Course
This course is offered as a compact 3-hour event via a Zoom conference. The main method of the course is independent practice with the course material using videos. Our instructor introduces the topic and is available during the course as a contact person for questions and assistance. The course involves using software on your own device, so it is important that the software required for the course is available in the recommended version (see the respective course page).
Format: Learnweb Course
This course is offered as a flexible, interactive Learnweb course. Over a period of 5 days, participants have access to introductory video lessons, practical exercises, and software via a virtual computer that needs to be run on their own device. Exercises are worked on during individually chosen phases and uploaded to Learnweb. The course leader supports participants through the forum on Learnweb and during a half-hour Q&A session on Zoom. Here, questions can be asked and solution approaches discussed and deepened.
Format: Self-study Course
This course includes the same content as regular online training but is not supervised by instructors. Instead, the course is designed to be completed independently and without supervision. Additionally, there are no access restrictions for this course. Course materials are also provided via Learnweb. You can enroll yourself in the course at any time; no course key is required. A certificate of participation is not offered for this course format.
Course Registration
Registration for courses is available online about a week before the start of the course program. All students will be notified by a mass email. While course registration is free, it is binding.
Access Data for Materials and Zoom Meeting
At the latest, on the evening before the booked course date, all registered participants receive an email with a link to the training materials, the meeting data, or the Learnweb course. The training materials for Zoom courses are provided on Learnweb and must be downloaded to the desktop before the course begins. The meeting data is intended only for registered persons and should not be shared with third parties.
Waiting Lists
All courses are limited to 20-26 participants to ensure the greatest possible learning success. If all seats are already taken, you can register on a waiting list. If a course spot becomes available, it is automatically assigned to the first person on the waiting list. Registration is automatic, and the person will be informed via email.
Course Deregistration
To give other students the opportunity to take your place, please deregister in time. We only accept online deregistration via "My CIT Software Training" if it takes place before the course begins. The cancellation periods for different courses differ: 24 hours before Zoom courses and 48 hours before Learnweb courses. Deregistering immediately frees up the spot for other interested parties. Since all courses are offered regularly, you can participate at a later date. However, you will need to register again. If you do not deregister and repeatedly fail to attend course dates, you will be excluded from the course program for six months.
Missed Courses
Once you have missed a course for the third time within 12 months, you will be banned from course registration. This ban lasts for six months and includes the removal from participant lists of upcoming courses. We will inform you about each missed course by email. In addition, you can always view a current overview of missed courses in "My CIT Software Training." Be sure to use the option of deregistering online if you cannot attend! This way, you give others the opportunity to take your place. We have long waiting lists for most course topics. Therefore, in fairness, we must exclude those who repeatedly fail to attend from using the courses.
Training Materials
The training material is provided on Learnweb (you can find the links on the course pages).
Training Software for Zoom Training
Before the Zoom training begins, each participant must install the software to be taught on their device. The recommended and approved program version can be found on the course pages. Participation with a laptop or desktop computer is desired. Tablets and mobile phones are not suitable. The training is designed for the Windows operating system. Mac users can participate but must adapt to their user interface themselves. Due to time constraints, instructors cannot address this.
Training Software for Learnweb Courses
At the beginning of the Learnweb training, we provide you with a virtual computer that contains the software and training materials. Additionally, you will receive instructions for operating the virtual computer. This computer is available to you until one week after the course ends and can be used from your own device.
Video Conferences via Zoom
Each participant must ensure that access to the video conferencing platform ZOOM X is guaranteed. You do not need to register with Zoom to participate. However, we ask you to log in to the conference with your full name to facilitate attendance tracking. A microphone is mandatory for the training, and a webcam is desirable. Here, you can find the FAQ for ZOOM X.
Participation Certificates
After completing the course, we provide participants with a certificate of participation in the personal course management section "My CIT Software Training" for download (available for up to 24 months). This requires the instructor’s confirmed presence of the participant during the entire course. For Learnweb courses, all required tasks must be completed and uploaded.
Credit Points
Participation in software training cannot be credited as a study performance.
