CV

Thorsten Kruse research associate of the Institute since 2002 has studied Political Science, Sociology, Education, Modern History and Public Law at the University of Münster. His research activities focus on the modern history of Cyprus and Greece and also on the history of Germany between 1945 and 1990, too and in addition, he takes an interest in recent political and economical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
He takes care of the Institute's library and the Institut's website.
Since summer term 2013 he is teaching (lecturer)at the Department of History of the University of Münster.

  • July 2007: Magister Artium (M.A.) in Political Science (thesis on the education policy of the British rulers in Cyprus between 1878 and 1960).
  • July 2012: Completion of the doctorate (Dr. phil.) at the University of Münster in Political Science. Title of the doctoral thesis: "Die Interessenpolitik Zyperns mit Ausrichtung auf die beiden deutschen Staaten (1960-1972)"[The interest-driven policy of Cyprus towards the two German states during the years 1960 to 1972)]
  • Since 2013 associate member at the department "Geschichte der Internationalen Beziehungen" [History of the International Relations] headed by Prof. Dr. Rolf Ahmann at the University of Münster
  • Since April 2013 lecturer at the Department of History of the University of Münster
  • May 2013: Publication of the doctoral thesis. Title: "Bonn - Nikosia - Ostberlin. Innerdeutsche Fehden auf fremdem Boden 1960-1972" [Bonn - Nicosia - East-Berlin. Inner German feuds on foreign ground]
  • Since 2019 member of CITAS-funded research network for Mediterranean Studies on Island Areas (MS ISLA) located at the University of Regensburg (Germany)
  • Since 2020 member of Future for Religious Heritage (FRH)
  • Since 2021 partner in the academic team of the FRH Inform project
