Cognitive behavioral therapy forms the basis for the various treatment modules that we use in our treatment concept. The methods of cognitive behavioral therapy have been scientifically tested and are the only psychotherapy method that has proven to be effective in the treatment of OCD. We adapt the individual treatment modules to the respective individual needs of our patients. Scientific studies have shown that learning a different way of dealing with obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive actions is important for reducing the symptoms. Accordingly, we also focus on this component in our treatment.

Patients often receive a combination of psychotherapy and medication with certain psychotropic medication that have also been shown to be effective in studies. So-called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are particularly recommended here. Medications would be carried out by a psychiatrist if necessary.

We see ourselves as a treatment team that works on the basis of well-researched and scientifically proven methods. Our affiliation with the University of Münster and the Psychotherapy Outpatient Clinic at the University of Münster guarantees a high standard of quality for the training of our staff and therefore also for the treatment of our patients. Careful diagnostics together with close supervision and training of our staff form the basis of our work. We also cooperate closely with other specialized outpatient clinics for obsessive-compulsive disorder, such as Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, in order to facilitate a constant exchange of therapeutic and research-related issues.

Therapy offer

At present, psychotherapy in the special outpatient clinic is only possible as part of psychotherapy studies. However, as no psychotherapy studies are currently taking place, there are no treatment options up-to-date. As soon as this changes, you will find this here.
